A good wash is only half the job. Give your mat time to dry on both sides before it goes back beside the shower.

The short answer: Check the label, wash with mild detergent, then air dry with plenty of airflow. For LivingFun mats, air drying is the recommended routine.

1. Before you wash

Read the care label first—not every microfiber mat has the same backing or wash instructions.

Shake out loose hair and dust. A mesh laundry bag is a useful extra for LivingFun mats. Give the mat enough room in the drum instead of packing the machine full.

2. Choose a gentle wash

Cold water and a gentle cycle are a gentle starting point when the label allows machine washing. LivingFun’s care guide also permits warm water and a regular cycle.

Use mild detergent, following its dosing directions. Avoid hot water, bleach and harsh cleaners. Skip fabric softener.

3. Let it dry completely

Follow the drying directions on the label. For LivingFun mats, use the spin cycle to remove excess water, then drape the mat over an airy drying rack in the shade. Leave room for air to reach the surface and underside; don’t bundle it up.

Check both sides before putting it back on a clean, dry floor. A dry fluffy surface does not tell you whether the underside is ready.

Three quick questions

Can it go in the dryer?

Only if the individual care label allows it. Follow the permitted temperature and cycle. Don’t choose a hotter setting to speed things up. When in doubt, air dry.

How long does drying take?

There is no reliable one-size-fits-all time: mat size, the spin cycle, airflow and humidity all matter. Go by how dry both sides feel, not a countdown.

How often should you wash it?

Base the routine on use. A busy shared bathroom or a mat with visible dirt or an odor needs attention sooner. Between washes, hang it up whenever it stays damp.
